Most people have an idea that they've started the day winning by getting up on the right foot.

For me, part of my morning routine is when I ask myself, "Where am I?"

One of the measurable ways in which I do this is by weighing myself and looking at myself in the mirror.

A lot of people are afraid to look in the mirror, because it shows them what they may not want to face.

We are no longer able to avoid complacency.

But guess what?

When we see the reality of where we're currently at, we're then able to see where we want to go if we don't like what we're seeing OR to stay the course because we like where it is that we're at right now.

It comes down to being honest with what we see in the mirror.

From what you see in the mirror to your relationship with your family and what is physically in your bank account, if you don't like where you're at, you can make a change.

Recognizing that living a prosperous life comes down to having extreme ownership in not pushing the blame onto anyone else, and the best way you can do that is to take a good, hard look in the mirror.

Taking a consistent, persistent, slow and steady commitment in being willing to pay the price will get us through the long game of where it is that we want to go.

And it all comes to being honest.

With my family's Polynesian background, it's common for us to tell everyone to take our shoes off.

Everyone, that is, except me.

I tend to walk around and wear my shoes still for one excuse after another, but ultimately it comes down to the fact that I don't take the time to take them off.

And I got called out for it.

"Daddy, why do you wear your shoes around the house but expect the rest of us to? You are not a man of integrity."

This lesson hit me HARD.

Whatever you say has to MEAN something and do what you say you're going to do by honoring your word.
