I am committed to being Father of the Year to my sons.

I love taking my boys to school every morning, but that doesn't mean that we don't have our tough days. My son couldn't find his instrument for the school presentation that was supposed to occur one morning which led to a lot of frustrations all around.

By the time we arrived at their school, he was close to tears that he wasn't prepared and then he asked if I could speak to his teacher for him.

This taught me a valuable lesson.

It hit me right on the spot about the importance of responsibility and handling things by focusing on the solution instead of the problem, but in the moment of being angry and frustrated I had to take a few deep breaths before teaching my son this lesson as well.

Just like my son can't put the blame on his younger brother for not taking responsibility for our own choices, so too we need to take responsibility and stop making up stories when we face frustrations.

The adversity was that he was MAKING UP A STORY and it wasn't until we confronted the reality that he was able to look for the solutions.

He talked to his teacher and she had an extra instrument for him, so he was able to play his music with the rest of his class that morning.

And guess what?

My son stated that it was a great day.

We may not always be able to foresee what kind of a day we're going to have, but the stories that we make up become a huge factor in learning to know how to take on the curve balls thrown our way every day.

The gift of the tragedy in adversity was that I was able to have a great conversation with my son and connected with him even more after having lunch with him that day, letting him know how much I love him.

Stop creating unnecessary stories. They are disempowering and will never serve you. So how do we avoid this? We focus on responsibility and make a shift towards what WILL serve us.

Challenge your stories, and you may discover the gifts that have been hidden once the stories were cleared away.

For years I was making multiple posts during the day, receive thousands of likes, and making videos before everyone started do that through Facebook Live, and recently I decided that I needed to choose a different path.

So, I got off of Facebook.

If you get clear, than you can ditch your own Facebooks in life.

What do I mean by that?

Social media has been an incredible tool, but it was also a HUGE distraction.

When I looked at my relationships with my family, I got CLEAR that I want to have a relationship with my sons and wife that is based on communication and trust, which requires direct communication and contact with them. When I allow distractions like living a life glued to my phone, I am not clear about what gifts I have right in front of me.

In January I've been hearing the Voice to tell me to get off of Facebook, despite the positive benefits as a tool that it is. But you know how it's been effecting me?

I'm not as tired because I've been sucked into looking at a screen right before bed. I'm able to have conversations with my sons and watch classics like Karate Kid with them.

CLARITY IS POWER.

If you lack power, you will be consumed by the path of least resistance, which leads to addictions, and all around us there are people glued to their phones. They are ADDICTED to what social media is telling them instead of the truth of face to face interaction.

What do I do instead of scrolling on my phone? I have real conversations with other people.

Six years ago I was at my bottom.

I was reminded of this today after hiring a guy to become part of my team because it reminded me of where I was and how I'm able to get back on top.

What does this have to do with you?

I have six key principles that helped me get back on top so that now I'm creating a seven figure Empire and have my sights set on making it 8.

All of this is possible, but it requires a formula to follow for the most optimal success.

It's a FORMULA that radically alters your choices, and it's called H6

H6:

  1. Hungry to succeed
  2. Humble to be teachable
  3. Heart to do what is required
  4. Hustle is a muscle that you can create to get those leads
  5. Honor through operating under integrity
  6. Hours show that you're willing to put in the time

What's driving you on a regular basis to succeed? For me, it's a desire to live to my fullest potential.

It's easy to lose a holy cause when you're safe and comfortable, but when you humble yourself, you're able to become teachable.

Blessed are the meek so they may inherit the earth.

This doesn't mean that you're soft. You're LEARNING.

Do you hustle today? It makes up for lack of talent because you go out and do. This makes up for lack of skills because you're willing to grind and push towards getting the work that is required done.

None of this matters if you don't operate from a place of integrity by operating with HONOR.

There is no short cut to hard work. Putting in the time and paying your dues will make you gain that hunger to make you stand out from the crowd because you're willing to show your hungry for success.

A few weeks ago I spent some time with a bunch of incredible entrepreneurs, business owners and people, and I had a chance to speak on Russell Brunson's stage about implementation in regards to marketing funnels.

I had ALL of these notes for it, but knowledge is not where the power is.

The implementation of what we have learned is.

What do I mean by that?

I have 3 Key Principles that have helped me in my life due to implementation:

  1. Don't worry about what people think about you
  2. Simple Success Swinging Singles: ONE THING
  3. Imperfect Action

One of the reason we don't take action is because we worry about what others may think about us. If you are no longer worried about what you may look like to others, imagine what you can further accomplish!

When you no longer care what you look like, you get out of your own way of what it is you can accomplish.

By focusing on one small step every single day, we will get more accomplished. What's ONE THING you can do today to make your life better?

Imperfect action is how we get started. The way things appear is when we start to move. Master planners aren't very good at execution. Imperfect action is like in Seth Godin's book, Linchpin, in which a person gets the most accomplished making imperfect actions that they can learn from and course correct.
